The second most-watched sport is cricket. Around 2.5 billion people all over the world watch cricket. It is a prominent sport in many countries i.e. Australia, England, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Cricket is an exciting sport that is played with a bat and ball. It is played between 2 teams with 11 players on each team. One team bats with two players at a time while the other team fields with all of its players and vice versa. The team with the most runs wins. Cricket has various formats such as T20, ODI and Test match. The number of overs varies in each format. Cricket rules and laws are governed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The most prestigious tournament in cricket is the ICC World Cup which takes place every four years and is of ODI format. Other than that, there’s also the ICC T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy which are both considered as significant tournaments in cricket. There are also different leagues such as Pakistan Super League, Indian Premier League, Big Bash League, and others. It’s an action-packed sport that is watched all over the globe in many countries i.e. Australia, England, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Basketball – 2.2 Billion FAN Base
With around 2 billion fans, the third most-watched sports in the world is Basketball which is most popular in the USA, Canada, Philippines, and China. It is an extremely entertaining sport that keeps its viewers entertained. The game involves two teams of five players each that compete against one another to shoot the basketball through hoops attached to backboards located on both sides of the court. If a player scores from inside the three-point line it earns 2 points while outside the line earns 3 points. The most significant competitions in basketball are the FIBA Basketball World Cup and Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament. Other than that, the most-watched league all over the world is the National Basketball Association in North America. The prestigious league is surrounded by top athletes and stars and gets coverage from major news channels as well. Being one of the richest sports in the world, basketball is followed vastly on social media by fans all over the globe. The most well-known players in the basketball world include Michael Jordan, Lebron James, and Shaquille O’Neal.
